Anyone know much about Range Rovers?
Discussion
I would be wary of that LPG, my friend had his C36 AMG mercedes done and he was not impressed.
- used to hesitate under hard acceleration.
- the tank was only the donut style (spare wheel replacement) tank and he could only get 160 miles from it.
In the end he gave up with it, as for range rovers. Know nothing about them, imagine there expencive to fix. Heard the air suspention is megga money to repair....

Check out the electrics and look for a full service history. Parts can be expensive but there are many non franchised suppliers who can provide parts and do repairs.
Very comfy, not stressed in normal use and make good second hand buys after the first owners have taken the hit on price.
Strong owners club / net community offering support and many LPG conversions done - key here is to get an approved conversion.
Cheers,
JSG.

mate of mine "Dan from Holland"had his land rover series 3 converted and that was just fine.He ran it more on lpg than petrol and up till i last saw him it was just great(as great as a landy ever could be i guess!!!)As for range rovers,i once owned a 3.9 1990 for 3 months....disaster.Steering box failure, holes in the body and chassis, oil pump failure, trim jumping off like rats of a sinking ship....which is what i came to the conclution it was:-)
All late shape range rovers came with air suspension, most problems with air suspension were cured after 97 but you can still get the odd one, your best bet if you want to buy one is to find an independant and see if they have the auto logic diagnostics systems and have fault code check, dont listen to the old wives tales of computers shutting the car down they dont, there are 10 e.c.u,s on the range rover all monitered by the BCM (body control monitor)if any e.c.u will shut the vechile down it will be this unit alone. As for driving its the best all rounder comfortable on road and brilliant off road. Ive tryed all of the competion and none of them come close as an all rounder. Find a good one and you will be alright find a bad one then tow a bank around with you,B.T.W i would be a bit dubious of ones with lpg fitted theres only a handful of specialists that can fit lpg to the late shape range rover and plenty of cow boys so check who fitted it before you buy

IMHO the Range Rover is still the 'king' of the off-roaders, amazingly refined and comfortable on-road and awesomely capable off-road. Downside, not the most reliable, and a bit expensive to run. I have had three (all classic) and only one let me down (due to the local Hungarian dealer). LPG should reduce the running costs a bit (check the installation though). I personally would not go for LPG, I am a petrolhead

And twice the price second hand
You pays your money.....
I've got a 94 (last of the old shape) Vogue SE (taken the air suspension off and put on 4 springs) 53k miles FSH and a bargain at <£4k, you'd be looking at more than twice that for a landcruiser
eye,not too familiar with the prices(not a fair comparison i guess) but i do know when you go through Africa these days(like ya do) there ain't many RRovers but there's shit loads of LCruisers. And i don't mean parked up with bullet holes in em!a la Beruit.
I think i saw the taliban using them as company vehicles on the news the other day
