I have received a message regarding a thread I started , I will accept the decision , but as it was a public domain subject , I am at a loss to understand why

From your profile I can see your thread was deleted as it covered the same topic as an existing thread.

Seems the topic itself was fine but just that it was a duplicate thread.

Yes possibly , I did look to see if the subject had been raised , but to no avail , perhaps a link please
