Who do you use? I am getting GAP from BMW (as it's the best price). However, their wheel and alloy cover at £499 for 3 years with a max claim limit of 5 is expensive. Direct GAP isn't an option, they want GAP insurance to be taken out if i want other policies.

I've used ALA in the past for an RTI GAP policy. Approx 160 quid for 3 years cover. Seemed decent value at the time, although i never claimed on it.

What would be the combined price with Direct Gap compared to BMW and say another firm for the wheel cover?

Be careful with the alloy wheel insurance.

Check the max limit per wheel and how they repair it.

I’ve had it and I cracked a wheel and the max payout was only about a third of the cost of the alloy wheel. They paid out quickly and it was painless but I was still left to find circa £500 to replace the wheel.

With curbing and scratches you may have to use approved suppliers and, on my policy at least, they may need the wheel for around 10 days to effect repair. Not good if you don’t have a spare and need the car.

Google the cost of a replacement wheel for your car and see if the payout will match.
