The steering wheel on our 2016 BMW 330 is discoloured. Initially a black/brown to the top of the wheel. I used an auto leather cleaner to clean (may have scrubbed too hard) then used leather conditioner.

The pictures show the current poor condition. The leather looks roughed/scuffed up. Any advice on treating or restoring the finish to the wheel?

Any advice gratefully appreciated! beer

God did you use bleach?

Have a look at colourlock stuff, it's not cheap though.

I've used Gliptone SCUFFmaster to good effect recolouring worn seats, but recovering might be a better option if it's too far gone.

What did it look like before cleaning?

Looks like result of magic sponge

Common with BMW steering wheels unfortunately, needs a re-trim, around a £200 job

Used Autoglym leather cleaner and probably too much effort..

Colourlock? I'll take a look.

Hoping it's not that bad. It's our daily driver, so sending away for retrim is not viable...

Gliptone? Another one for the list.
The surafce was shiny and had started to lose the black pigment with use/UV.

Yes, they also do the liquid leather cleaner and leather conditioner, which I have also used.

The ScuffMaster kit comes with the coloured die (various colour kits available) plus a selection of tints to tweek the colour, and a modifier to adjust the level of shine.

Mix it up and put it on with a sponge, recoat if you want or need, dont try and fill up cracks with it. Obviously more detailed instructions come with the kit!

They have spares of most wheels, enabling drive in / drive out service. Their wheels better than new.
