Seems to be the correct conversion from the decimal.

"A degree (∘) is made of 60 minutes (′), and a minute is made of 60 seconds (′′)"
So the decimal .05 (1/20th of a degree) becomes 3 minutes (3/60 = 1/20), and so on.
Degrees/Minutes/Seconds is the same as Hours/Minutes/Seconds, if it helps remembering.

It's just removed the 0 from the latitude and rounded the longitude to 6 decimal places.
A degree latitude is 69 miles (each minute being 1.15 miles or 1 nautical mile), but a degree longitude varies being 69 miles at the equator and 0 at the poles. At 57°N it's 37 miles or 60km.
So, I reckon your 0.0000001 rounding error is 6mm on the ground!

Well,…… I put in 53.46820, -2.32780 which is shown in brackets but it didnt go there, just thought I had it sorted, any ideas?

That has worked correctly and has taken you to 53.46820, -2.32780 as requested (shown in the lighter grey text underneath also).53.46820 is 53 degrees, 28 minutes, 5.5 seconds North, and -2.32780 is 2 degrees, 22 minutes, 40.8 seconds West, the location it's showing. They're just two different ways of writing the same thing. Read the links that have already been posted on this thread for an explanation of how it works.

I don't think you did - look carefully at the numbers, you seem to have missed a 2 out.Gassing Station | The Lounge | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
