Is this standard under the boot covers (pics attached)

Hi guys

First time buying a car in a while. Went to look at a fiesta last week that was priced quite low.

When looking under the boot covers I saw the following which made me think it may have had an accident or something and I thought the bumper seemed a slightly different colour. I've since been to look at a mazda and it appears to have had the same welding making me think they're standard!

Can I get some more opinions please

floor looks original and often plastic bumpers can look a shade off

I take it that paste on the first photo round the edge is normal too? What's its purpose?

The paste is seam sealer. Normal on any car

Bumper looks a totally different shade to me, definitely been painted.

I'm thinking maybe it's normal. This is a picture of a different fiesta parked near my house.. Seems a different shade on the bumper also.

Certainly looks the same.

Bumpers can be off colour from the factory,

the seam sealer in the 1st pics all looks factory spec to me, very hard to replicate it correctly when it has been smacked and panel replaced.

Thanks mate. Is it fair to say the seam sealer looking factory spec would make you think that the bumper is original as they would have to have the sealer replaced if the bumper was changed? (I might be way off the mark here - no idea)

No,

The bumper could of still been painted, the seam sealer being original just means it hasn't had a back panel changed.

You could get a detailer to check the paint thickness with a gauge if you are really fussed about it.

Boot floor looks factory standard i'd say it hasn't been worked on since it left the factory.

The bumper does look a shade off but that's not uncommon with Fords in my experience and brighter colours do tend to be more noticeable so red will be particularly noticeable as was the Mk2 Electric Orange Focus, it was common to see those in 2-3 different shades, infact with those you could park two side by side and they would be different shades of orange.

In summary I would suspect the Fiesta is absolutely fine.

agreed, looks ok to me.

Paint, especially metallics these days seem to look different on metal and plastic.

I was told by a local bodyshop this is because its dries differently since they moved more environmentally friendly compositions, they weren't going work for me so I have no reason to doubt them.
