eric clapton was recently charged failing to produce ID info when stopped in his car
I was thinking who carries photo ID around with them all the time ?
There is no requirement to have your driving licence when actually driving [ not sure why ]
I have bank cards with my name, I have a Bus Pass with a photo, but none have my address or DOB.
If the govt. want us to produce ID when asked by the rozzers, then why not introduce ID cards.

Hardly ever. I pay with my phone for most things so never take my wallet.
I've taken to running without my phone recently, out across the New Forest often later in the evening. It did recently occur to me that if something happened to me 1. I'd not be found until the following day and 2. When they did find me nobody would have a clue who I was.
Should probably take my phone....

If I’m going out in the car I carry my wallet which has my driving licence, bank cards, bus pass etc.
That way I know that I’ve got everything I need for most circumstances.
It’s nothing to do with carrying id it’s just if I decide to go to the shops or Costco for petrol I know that it’s all in the wallet.

Charged with what and was it this country?I have an old style paper licence, it is in my wallet, sometimes my wallet is on me, sometimes it's not, the only photo I.d I have is my passport which is always filed away in the house unless I'm on holiday or have been specifically asked to provide photo I.d.

(Allegedly) not responding to an NIP in time was the offence. In any case, the charge was withdrawn.

Is must be age related!I'd wager all the old boys who think it's some huge inconvenience carrying I.D around or worse some kind of government overreach are old enough to only have paper driving licences and were teenagers at a time when no pub had ever asked anyone to prove they were over 18.....
For those who have only ever had Photocard driving licences and have been teenagers in the 90s/00s then you'd frequently be asked for I.D to go into pubs/nightclubs at which point having a photo driving licence was considerably easier than carrying a passport around.
I'd go so far as to say I think those who are NOT carrying their photo driving licence in their wallet along with debit/credit cards are the strange ones out there although i realise this sets up to be schooled by people who think they are ooo so clever having no ID, no bank card and hoping their phone never lets them down.
In the UK, I don’t make a conscious effort to carry it. If I have my wallet on me though my driving licence is always in there.
When I was working abroad I always used to make sure I had my passport on me and driving licence if I was out in the car.
Only ever had 1 problem and that was with a dumb Mississippi highway patrol cop that despite producing my passport, driving licence, car rental documentation and unescorted pass for NASA Stennis which also had my photo ID on, he refused to accept that I was allowed to drive a car in the US.
