Dell Dimension 8400 and XP
Discussion
Bit of a long shot but has anyone got a ghosted copy of a xp pro install for a dimension 8400 with oem Audigy ZS sound card? I've had all sorts of problems trying to get XP Pro installed with correct drivers etc since trying to do a clean install (machine came with xp home).
Any assistance much appreciated (I'm sure PH will be more helpful than Dell support!)

Why not just use a clean install of XP, and get the appropriate drivers off the Dell site / web..?
That's exactly what I have tried doing. The clean install will not recognise the Creative Audigy at all. The Creative disk Dell supplies is the driver for the non-OEM version and therefore the installer doesn't even recognise the card! The downloaded driver and installer for the machine picked up through the asset tag checks also don't work. XP also identifies a number of 'Other Devices' for which drivers don't exist on the Dell CDs or windows update.

I do have the Dell CDs here, if there's anything you need off them let me know.

Thanks for the offer. I fortunately have all the CDs from Dell but they don't help enourmously!! I'll probably give it one more go and, like you, revert to Win2K.
