Cyclist and row of parked cars

Yesterday I was driving past a row of parked cars, and saw a cyclist coming on the opposite direction.
The cars were tight to the kerb, I used my judgement and there was enough room for us both to pass.
However the cyclist proceeded to give rude gestures and implied I was in the wrong?
Who is right? What would anyone else have done?

Who had right of way? From the sound of it the cyclist, if the parked cars were on your side requiring you to cross the white line to pass them. In that circumstance, if the cyclist/learner driver/person with expensive car they don't wan't scraped/whomever feels that you should have waited, then probably you should have waited, however fabulous your ability to judge the width of your car and their vehicle, the risk of someone opening one of the doors in one of the the parked cars, the possibility of a pedestrian running out, the presence or absence of any large potholes in the opposite lane that might require avoiding action by the oncoming vehicle and so forth.

There's also the potential factor of a car door being swung up and the driver instinctively swerving into the cyclist.
If you hit another car in such a situation, it's a ding. If you hit a cyclist, it easily could be a serious injury.

I'm not tech savvy enough to do so myself but I understand that there is now footage of Nathaniel Cleland committing criminal damage that he's posted himself, well done!
I have no problems with cyclists, sometimes when they stop at lights I ask them if they were ok with the room I gave them and they all thank me for asking and say it's fine. When I'm on my bike I usually get enough room around me, although I must admit I normally cycle on very quiet roads so no big deal there.

I am a cyclist, the video shows an odd and rare situation, as the cyclist did he just slowed down a bit moved over and cracked on, no harm done. It didn't warrant a video and if he did hit the car that's just stupid.
No one owns the road just share it, some road users are just little kids, why are we obsessed with right of way in this country I have no idea!?

I don't know the rider but I'm 90% sure those bangs that you think are him kicking the car are him clicking back into his pedals, the second one happens way after the car has gone and all through the video you can hear the vibrations of the road and bike going through the microphone.Solocle said:

People make mistakes, make judgements and sometimes get it wrong. Remember when you're on a bike you're tiny and so not always easy to see, especially in the scene above.
Stuff like that happens when you're in a car too, I've on occasion had to stop or even reverse. s
