Whine/Mechanical noise when lifting off the accelerator.

I have a roadster and normally drive with the roof down but on a long drive recently with the roof up, I noticed (a faint) odd whine/mechanical noise (from under the car) when lifting off gas at around 30- 40mph. Its only when I lift off the accelerator ie doesn’t happen when I start accelerating again.
FYI - I have a 2012 Aston Martin Vantage Roadster S - Sportshift II

Is it normal? I know the robotized auto makes all sorts of mechanical noises particularly when cold in the lower gears so is it a case of TADTS?

don't know about Aston's, but it sounds like a bit play in the diff?
with say older BMW's its often such case, no idea about Astons.

In a TVR that was diff whine.

My initial thought was the famous gear chatter, but the speeds that you mention and therefore the engine revs, would be too high for that to occur.

I've had exactly this since Christmas.
Although db9 and auto same principles apply
It's started faintnand got steady louder.
As many have said already it was the rear diff I had to swap out.

A few checks:
Find a corner where you can induce the noise,
Go both ways down the road. Is it louder when cornering one way or the other? If it is it could be a wheel bearing.

Induce the noise and drop it down a gear or 2, does it change with RPM or is it related to road wheel speed.
Rpm= engine to gearbox in tge drive train.
Wheel speed = diff, bearings, suspension or even tyres
