At my last MFK (Swiss version of the TÜV or MOT) I got an advisory because the left rear fog light was not working.

Before I have to buy a new left tail light, I would like to make sure that the Vantage (and the DB9) has fog lights in both tail lights and not only on the right side.

Can someone please confirm this?

Thank you.

The DB9 and therefore I assume the Vantage definitely has twin rear fog lights.

Thank you very much for your reply.

Then I'm afraid that I will need to buy a new taillight.

Has anyone repaired such a defect?

Good to see Aston gives two fog lights unlike some premium makes.

Really bugs me when I see cars driving with only one fog light.

I need symmetry smile

There are companies on ebay offering warrantied repair service to LED lights for much cheaper than a new light unit.

With more and more cars coming with these "last forever" but non user serviceable light units, I suspect light repairs will become more common.

Whatever was wrong with replacing a 50pence bulb ? wink

If you want to get a slightly more modern look to your rear lights you can talk to these guys. I believe they will take your existing lights and sort them out.

https://www.divinatech.com/seq-lights.html

I cant speak for the work they do on the lights but I can speak highly of them for great service when tackling carbon upgrade parts and sorting issues out very quickly.

eBay seller 'ramiroz'. I had a good chat with him; he seemed a sound fellow and I'd have used his service (£185 max) but the dealer swapped it for free.

Glad to hear, i still have a light unit in the garage that needs repairing, might be worth repairing with warranty and selling it.

When my lights went it failed MOT and I took up the dealer offer for some discounted clear rear lights.

Now 2 years later I occasionally see the mist forming in the clear rear light units, so they are no better than the originals. Im sure in another few years I will be having them repaired and resealed properly...

Dont know if this issue occurs on other new cars, or if its just the shoddy supplier that AM have used

Red or clear? I have a set I could sell. I am in Germany right now but am driving to Zurich tonight. Send me a PM/email?

Update - the light the dealer fitted developed a fault so I ended up using 'ramiroz' after all. To cut a long story short I wouldn't use him again, so if yours still needs fixing try 'cerepairuk' instead.

After I had dried and resealed my rear lenses, I do remember idly wondering if the fog lights were actually LED, as the light given from the fogs doesn’t have that ‘magical twinkliness’ of the normal rear lights and brake lights smile

However, looking at the pic of PhuketPauls DB9V in sunlight, it seems they are indeed LED.

Believe it or not despite it being a sealed unit, the reverse light is incandescent ,yep, what a joke.

Anyway, heat it up and you can get the lens off, replace the bulb and off you go. do check it is actually the lamp though! you can plug either light into either side of the car to confirm the fault persists.

I had my rear lights fixed/upgraded by Divinatech.

When I bought the car they had had condensation and the brake lights were failing, Davinatech upgraded them with new internals including LED reversing lights and making the other lights sequential.

Such a crazy idea have a sealed rear light unit with one incandescent bulb.

aha ! So they are not LED after all. Blimey, incandescent in a sealed unit, someone should have been fired. Good job the unit can be spilt via an oven.

Along with the clutch self destruct mode due to the absurdly tall gearing, its another reason to avoid selecting reverse… grumpy
