My current car sounds great. V8, twin turbo - but it’s all exhaust. There’s no induction noise.

Made me think. What car currently still in production (for less than £100k) has the best induction noise?

I'd vote for the Exige, but was discontinued a month or 2 ago. having induction noise inches from your head helped. The Emira uses the same drivtrain etc. so should be similar, admittedly with more sound deadening.

Does an E46 M3 CSL count as a production car? If it does, I can't think of much that would beat that.

ETA - whoops, just seen it has to be a current production car. In that case, no idea!

Very much so, I'm struggling to think of a car under £100k that's going to sound much better. Is the Jag F-Type still in production?

1. Not in production
2. Only when modified

Yep, so there's the V8 of that, although that's probably not going to beat the GT4.

Biased, but the Honda Beat is excellent.

3 cylinders, factory ITB’s and 8500rpm redline.

Edit - Stopped production 30 years ago

Not in production anymore, but the E92 M3 that I had was easily the best car I've had induction noise wise(for a standard car). The exhaust noise as standard wasn't up to much though.

True and thankfully unlike other manufacturers Porsche have not succumbed to the cringeworthy fashion of over farty pop exhausts which it has to be said slightly afflicted the 981 Spyder and moved to far better induction noise across the rev range of which the 718 GT4 and Spyder are prime examples right up to the 8k red line. Not quite pre GPF 991.2 9k rev limit GT3 induction noise orgasm inducing but not far off.

The old Z4 used to have a 'sound foam mod' where you popped a pipe off, removed the foam inside and put it back, 2min job for instant induction howl! It was great, and as it was so quick to do you could change it as needed.

Surprised your asking, you have a C63 right - isn't that one of the best sounding cars overall on the market (especially if a pre facelift)? (aside from supercars). Would some sort of induction kit help?

I had a Z4 3.0 and removed that exact bit of foam. I could not believe the difference it made!! 👍

C63 (pre ppf) does make an awesome noise, but it’s all exhaust. The actual noise from the engine is quite tame.

I'm speculating, 'cos I've never driven one, but the Miura ought to be in with a reasonable shout?
