Rarely do I post, but I needed to express the fact that you are pathetic and arrogant.
Funny that have not said anything, when I post revealing the market has beaten me.
Very selective.
You no doubt did not read the part, where I said luck was involved on this occasion.
Did you know these economic conditions, would all occur at the same time ? Extremely unlikely.
Neither did you appreciiate the underlying message to fellow investors. Traditional businesses should not be dismissed. The 'hot shot' firms create excitement and attract share buyers, but they introduce much greater risk.

What are your recommendations for the next six months? Reading with interest.....
:haha:
I have lent my crystal ball to the lady in the tent on Blackpool Beach.
No use to me, it never worked anyway, but she is good at pretending that it does. People pay and believe her.
No Mike, at least I know, that I don't know, what will happen in the market tomorrow, next week, next month, or next year.
I have just held the same shares for years. Some come alive on occasions and overall it seems to work.
Maybe I will take a chance and say I don't expect the top five to go up much more. They have had a good run in a short time. Don't like to see share prices overreaching the earnings, because the inevitable then happens.
I have done MUCH worse. The magnitude of negative swings in real numbers are are quite frightening. YTD down on paper ~ -8%would have been worse but a fortunate ( pure chance from past ) large unattended overseas investment has benefited form the GBP drop as I converted from USD. yet to finally figure out what the tax man is going to benefit from that . Year on Year today I am very slightly up.
My wife , whose money is "professionally" managed and I believe ( as I am not in control ) is down ~ -3.5% at worst , as her stuff is very defensive and had some very large holdings in lucky picks ( I call them luck out of jealousy )
Irksome as it is., matters not a jott as we are not taking any income from either nor planning to for maybe 5 years minimum and using cash savings between my early retirement and when I might start into the DB pension and the other private ones when about 65

Though you have had a good run with this portfolio, I don’t think such a lack of diversification then buy and hold is a repeatable and advisable strategy.
For every one of you, there have probably been ten people who bought the wrong stocks with the same strategy. If you were heavy into banks for instance…
Some of these bounces are also still related to the recovery from Covid. Shell dropped from £25+ to £8 and has been slowly been ambling back up. Anyone who invested ~5 years ago is still underwater from a capital perspective. They are just making back precious losses.
I do agree with some of your thinking and do the same myself. Buy and hold for a long time, have emphasis on FTSE 100 value stocks etc, but I don’t think 6 months of atypical returns tell us anything.

To be fair, lots of posts on all forums don't do it for me . I gave up reading the other thread as it became very stuck, it wasn't about the market, it was just a few posters who have rigid ideas and wanted to convert people to their way of thinking.
What was missing for me was any collaborative effort to expand our collective thinking re the Macro backdrop, because one can be the best stock picker and still not do well.

Is your comparison to the FTSE all share a valid one? What is in your fund exactly?
He won't tell you, its a big secret, ssshhhh loose lips and all that.....

What's the point of this thread then!? Is it just a swinging dick competition?
I see the original post has gone...
