Hi all,

Well the summer is here and, as we all know, Aston dash leather can shrink and become detached if the car is parked in the hot sun - I've already had my passenger airbag panel and the "hockey stick" immediately below the windscreen re-glued by AM Works.

Normally my car is garaged, so it's not an everyday concern, but if I take it to a few events (like the upcoming Heritage day at Brooklands I'm booked in for) and have to park it up in the midday sun, I'm concerned about the leather getting hot.

Do any Vantage owners have experience of any of these, silvered sun shades you can keep in the car and fold-out to put on the inside of the windscreen to keep the interior cooler and protect the dash? Any recommendations for products that are available in the UK, good quality and fit the screen well without being a major hassle to fit and remove?

Also, what about the same for the rear screen too? Necessary?

All assistance and advice welcome

I use one of those silver fold away jobbies off amazon and it seems to do the job just fine, disappears into the boot nicely too. Although it is a db9 I think the dash is the same. Never considered the rear as mine is tinted.

Thanks - do you have a make/supplier? and does it fit the Vantage screen well? Aston screens are quite deep for their width because of the screen rake

It was an Aodoor off amazon. The link to the page doesn’t exist anymore, it was £9.99

Not sure re rake etc, but they do appear to be universal.

Ive got one of those silver fold up things I originally bought for my Lotus Elise 20 years ago ....still works fine in the Vantage now and lives in the boot. Sure its a bit small around the edges, but covers 95% of the screen and does it job in keeping the cabin and dash top cooler.

Never bothered with a rear in my Roadster and my coupe had tinted rear glass/side windows anyway.

If you measure the size of screen and search Amazon you will find something suitable

I bought a hypermarket al foil special in France - the best place to get a choice of sizes with their blazing sunshine. All good after 8 years use.
