I think you will find Gentlemen that it is after 1 month either untaxed or unsorned that DVLA do their monthly computor check for unlicensded vehicles. Any found an 80 note fine (less if paid straight away)is sent to Reginald Keeper..... who must be sick of the attention he gets.

Classic bollox red tape. How many cars under 3 years old are likely to be SORN'd anyway? Surely the vast majority are classics.

Nothing on their site about age of vehicle being SORNED on line.

May be confusion as possible for Excise Licence to be issued on line but only where they can check against a computorised MOT Certificate. MOT not yet fully on line for them to check against so anything 3 years and over back to Post office.
