I've sold a camera lens on ebay, £190 with special delivery.

Guy buys it and messages me immediately afterwards asking to meet up, instead of me posting it. I said nope, can't do that, I'll post it tracked via special delivery as promised.

He comes back, seemingly ok with this and pays via PayPal and I recieve the Ebay notification that it's been done so. However, he also mentioned he's "flying away" wednesday and would like it as quickly as possible - of which he will, as I'll send it Monday.

But in my mind, it seems like a way of getting out of the signature that's required?

Am I right in feeling that somethings off here?

I'm sure I'll be more than covered in terms of postage, but still feels a little dodge to me..

I think you might be over thinking it. If the guy is not there to sign, then it will just come back to you won’t it?

Would have been easier to meet and take payment in cash.

Quite possibly overthinking it - but I'm very aware of scams going ahead.

In terms of meeting and paying cash, outside of eBay terms, how would I be covered? I.e, not at all hah. Also, Ebay wouldn't be notified of despatch, then doesn't it have the potential to go down the whole "item not received" pigeon hole?

That would not be an issue as there would be no evidence of payment either.

Irrelevant now as he has paid via PayPal. Not sure why I even mentioned it!

I mean, that's a good point. Perhaps I'm just over aware/cautions of the whole ebay siding overly with the buyer thing.

I just don't fancy being out of pocket, minus a good lens - that's all!

It's not outside of Ebays terms, how do you think people pay for and collect large items? Paypal isn't owned by Ebay anymore so they have no interest in that payment side of things.

I sold a large cabinet a while back, they guy came and paid cash, if you have the option of collection in person there is a code sent to the buyer that they can give you to confirm collection
