What is an accurate map of UK safety camera locations?
Discussion
Hi.
What is the a good accurate map of red light camera and speed camera locations? for example Nottingham Police release information that these are the only red light camera locations for Colwick;
A612 Colwick Loop Road – Private Road No 1, Colwick, SW bound
A612 Daleside Road / Vale Road, Colwick
However they list speed cameras on A612 as well.
However, https://www.speedcameramap.co.uk/ and Piston Enforced, shows red light cameras in Colwick on Mile End Road, First Avenue corners, unlisted on the police websites list.
scdb lists these cameras from above two sites as both red light and speed cameras in one.
Are any of these websites accurate? is there a better one?

Or just slow down?
Sometimes, not posting is a lot better than posting. Yours is one of those times.OP - our local county rag lists every one - at least all the mobile traps for the week ahead, and they get the data from the cops. Guess it varies county to county.
Very useful info because there is one location that is very hard to spot them until it's too late to slow down, so I use a different route for the week they are active there.

I simply don't want to.
I really rather like driving fast, and often, that's above the speed limit. Way above it sometimes, tbf.
Anything else grandad? (apart from asking more questions you already know the answer to?)

Who remembers Ash, if only he was on here now or the late John Smith if I've recalled his name correctly?

Love it! Do you use Waze? It’s saved my arse a few times now with the live user updates. If you zoom out on the map (without a route planned) all the police locations are shown by blue dots. Doesn’t show speed cameras like you’re after but it’s another tool for awareness.

I'd also like to have the option in Waze to set a custom warning distance for mobile cameras as well as a warning for speed cameras that triggers regardless of whether you're speeding or not.

In answer to your question, no - I just keep an eye on the weekly mobile camera list so I know where to keep my eyes peeled more than normal as there are a couple of very sneaky spots they use in my locality and it's very helpful to be forwarned. On the whole, I am careful driving past any overpasses on the motorway, and locally, I get my kicks on large roundabouts where it's impossible for plod to set up base.
Fixed cameras are a gift - bright, obvious, and usually well signed.

What makes you think I always keep to speed limits? Over the years I've had a number of pieces of correspondence that stated I didn't. Been driving for 55 years & over a million miles.

it is not about slowing down because I don't drive fast, however I still avoid routes with cameras since people have been fined for letting emergency vehicles through or faulty cameras.
Let me guess…the camera is faulty but just for the people you know and not anyone else? If it was faulty wouldn’t it go off for everyone going past? There is no defence for going through a red light for an emergency service vehicle. They’re trained not to make people do it. Simple answer is don’t do it.

As we are told that cameras are only placed at accident blackspots it makes sense to avoid them.Gassing Station | Speed, Plod & the Law | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
