Is there a way to ignore a thread/topic?

I want to stop a particular thread appearing that pisses me off every time I see it appear in 'What's New'. Is there a way to set PH to never show me that particular thread/topic?

If a thread title is annoying you that much, in my experience (honestly) it is best to take a pause from social media for a bit.

It's forum 101 these days to be able to ignore posts and users. I know PH is built on 30 year old code but I wanted to know whether this was something that can be done and I just couldn't find how.

If you do the Ignore Thread x button in My Stuff does it also remove it from What’s New? Never tried it.

No, just removes it from your 'My Stuff' and the thread would only be there if you'd replied to it or manually set it to 'Watch'.

I just wanted to know if there was an equivalent opposite of 'Watch', ie. a 'Hide Topic' setting. Seems there's not.

Give over; you're putting words in my mouth. I'm not 'offended' by it, it's just irritating seeing it crop up - mainly because I can't warn PHers due to N&S rules. I'm not going to link to the thread for fairly obvious reasons; it would start speculation and end in grief.

I just wanted to know if I'd missed a way to remove it from popping up frequently - unless one of the mods or staff know of a way, it seems that there probably isn't a way to set it to be ignored. I'm not about to leave PH entirely over it.

Of course you can warn people about a thread. It’s the content of posts that’s included in the name and shame rules. If it was about the title then the whole thread would be banned and therefore not in the what’s new list.

As Scrump has said, if there's a thread that breaks of rules then please report it so we can take a look. We don't have any functionality for you to ignore threads though I'm afraid.

is it thread in a section you don't normally go in?

If so you can select all the sections you do go into in preferred forums and then "whats new" will not show you any new topics in that section?
