Taken from an early fifties film, I am pretty sure the insignia says "Sunbeam Talbot", but the bodywork is not like any car of that make that I know or. Looks more Italian to me. I can't see this thread lasting long before someone puts me out of my misery!

Sunbeam Talbot 90 mkII

I think the aspect ratio of the image is 'stretched', which makes it look a bit longer and sleeker - maybe a 35mm film streched to 16:9?

This is what it should look like - they say the camera never lies (wasn't that Bucks Fizz?)

Sunbeam Talbot 80 rather than 90?
(80 has rear wheel spats and no triple vent feature at top rear of front wing)

Thanks all. I knew I could rely on the PH massive. It was just that, on a 55" screen, it looked so sleek. A friend had a Talbot 90 convertible for a many moons ago and I often drove it!

There's a custom Talbot out there that has been roof chopped, lowered with fender skirts and had the front doors lengthened - looks surprisingly like the first image. the proportions on it really work. Old British cars looked a bit "dumpy", artists' impressions in advertising material often stretched the proportions similarly to that first pic'... If only they'd had "Photoshop".

Mmm.. maybe we could see what other cars look better when they go to widescreen!

That is one of those cars that I really shouldn't like, but I do! - As bad as it might be, I just can't help myself! hehe
