My Chim 400 rad has started leaking, not into bodging it up. Anyone know where to get a good recon or new one for sensible money?

Also does anyone know if the 450 and 500 rads are the same or higher capacity? (we are talking no air-con by the way)

Might just need a quick weld £20.00 (plus all the extra crap a garage wuold charge.
Might just need the hoses tightening £10.00 (backhander... try it on..)
Might just need a recore £100.00 (from most places - your local dealer would know of one.)
Might just be the bleed screw £0.35 (PTFE tape)

Hope it's not serious - try not to boil the engine, keep your eyes on the coolant level...

Quick welds don't work too well nowadays, plastic/ally. I wish hose was loose, leaking from seal between core and header plate.

£100 for a recore is better than I thought, just made my day.

Thanks,

Ivan

I had the same problem, the guy came out took the rad out, re- cored it, came back and refitted and anitfreezed up all for £198 plus VAT. I'm in Milton Keynes, so if you're anywhere near I'll give you the number.
