Speedo gone weird

I've replced the sensor and so has David but nought. He is an electrical wizz so if he can't sort it i'm fooked. Going to clean the earth's unde rthe centre console, if that don't work run another erath to the back of the speedo.
Would be useful if we knew what each of the wires to the speedo did and how we could test them. I have tried a spare speedo which didn't work so assume its a wiring issue. May try another at the Growl if anyone is willing to swap there's over to confirm 100%.

Mine started not working below 30mph after having the diff seen to. The sensor needs to be about 1mm from the "teeth" around the universal joint near the diff, on mine they were more like 3mm. I adjusted them down to 1mm, and then got a "click" sound when reversing out of my drive. Another look revealed one of the "teeth" was bent ever so slightly out and was catching the sensor. Backing the sensor off a fraction more seems to have improved it and it now works above 20mph. One day I'll get round to straightening the tooth and adjusting it closer, but for now I know my speed through all scameras so am happy!
This might sound a little weird, but have you tried driving the car with the ECU and wiring loom loose in the passenger footwell?
It cured my lazy speedo problem until i got it to Peninsula to fix it, but they never did find out what the exact cause was.The only thing that i did notice was they put the ECU back the opposite way around, so maybe they some magnetic field issues or it was simply a loose connection somewhere.

Hmmmm. This evening the rev counter started misbehaving aswell, the revs were struggling to fall below 1800, does anybody know if the 2 could be linked poss to the ecu?
I spent most of Saturday fiddling with the speedo and sender. I can inject a 3v peak to peak at the sender(transducer) and it works, got up to 180 mph ! anything less and it will not work.I put a scope on the "trannie" and there is a signal, trouble is, unless you can compare, you can not say if it right or not.I always though the "box" behind the dash was for the speedo, in fact its for the ECU, probably because the original signal for the ECU was not taken from a ABS ring. My sat nav gives me speedo so its not quite as urgent for me, happy hunting !

Passed its MOT early this week so not too concerned any more.

Well good luck with that, I'm sure the fault with mine will return at some point.
