Given it's about 28 degrees outside this is perhaps a little premature. However, I've bought a second set of wheels for my 991.1 C2 to use as winter wheels. They're the bog standard 19s you got if you didn't tick any wheel option boxes.

The specified sizes for winters on them are:

235/40 R19 92V
285/35 R19 99V

Interestingly the summer tyres on the wheels I've bought are exactly those sizes. However, for the life of me on all the usual tyre places online I can't find a complete set of winters in those sizes. Let alone with the N marking. Can get either something in the front size and something different in the rear size but not a matching set which obviously I want. Ideally I'd like some all season ones as I have a set of Michelin cross climates on my 3 series for winter use and they're awesome in doing most of what a full on winter will do without quite as much noise and squidge. Finding those seems even harder to achieve!

So, am I just stupidly early or am I doing something else wrong?

I don’t know if you have a warranty or not, but it’s handy to have a 2nd set of wheels as you won’t need to be a slave to the N rating on your winter set. Just pop the Ns back on if you’re going near an OPC.

Ah, interesting, wondered how fussy they’d be if I needed to go non N. That answers that then “very”! biggrin

Don't worry about N rating on winter tyres, just find decent tyres in the right size.On my 996 C4S the rear winter recommended tyre size is a 265 width not the 295 summer fitting and an inch smaller on the rim too. When fitted they look really skinny on the wide body of the 4S so i use spacers to make them look better. The fronts are the same size as normal.
Ask Porsche what the recommended tyre size is for winters, they may suggest a taller sidewall.

I’ve run mine on N rated P Zeroes and Pilot Sport 4S’ in snow and on track in summer. Haven’t felt the need for winter tyres - is there a reason you want them?

I live out in the sticks and in the winter it's been "entertaining" a couple of times with powerful RWD stuff. As such I've just got used to having a spare set of wheels to run winters or all seasons on. Fringe benefits are that not going through winter helps anything diamond cut not corrode quite as quickly and typically going an inch down in diameter also helps with ride and ability to shrug off potholes etc that are harder to see on dark, wet winter nights.

Nice one, ta. The other option I have found is Hankooks. Never had any but their particular high performance winter tyre is available in the right sizes and gets decent reviews. I'd prefer the Michelins though! I'm going to hang on a bit for when there's a better choice and see if they do the cross climates in the right sizes.

The wheels I'm going to use arrived and are loads better than I was expecting, genuinely unmarked. Therefore, no need for a refurb which I thought would be the case. As such, more of the budget can be used on rubber!

I have bought some used wheels with Winter Tyres already on them. I had the N rated Michelin Alpin for my 981 in 19 inch. The tread patter looks completely different to the standard none n rated alpin 4 tyres. They worked well until temps got a bit warm and then they started squealing like a banshee if trying to lean on them in a round about for example.

Asked about new tyres yesterday and the options were two flavours of P Zero, the Dunlop Sport Max, and Michelin Cup 2. No sign of the Pilot Sports 4S at all, which were my favoured all year round option. How do the P Zero compare?
