Quoting a post by a user whose name includes the ampersand character causes the quote text block not to appear.
Pressing 'preview' while attempting to do so also breaks the posting page, at least for me.
This has been causing some confusion.
If it's not easy to fix the quoting, an alternative would be to prevent creation of new usernames containing '&'.

Sadly I think this is one of those issues that's been around for ages but can only be fixed by people changing their usernames to remove the characters.
The last few times i've come across it over the years has been users with characters like ' or ? in their username. One of them i think is a username along the lines of who me? or who's carl? (or something similar) and as you say every time they, or somebody else on a thread quotes their post on a thread, it messes up the original quote tags.

It's been raised before - but I think for ' in user namesbrowny,s blower from memory but I haven't seen Chris post in a long time
Actually I knew where I could find a post from him so I quoted it in a thread screenshot the result and then deleted it
But it ends up looking like this
