Canon / CF card question!

Not sure if this should be here or in computers...
When I take shots with my Canon Powershot S70, all the info on the shot (shutter speed, aperture, camera settings, etc.) get stored somewhere so that whenever I view the pic I can see how I took it.
Where is this stored? Obviously it's not part of the .jpg file format, so if at a later date I want to know what settings I used for a particular photo, can I copy the photo back to the memory card to find out? Is the info stored somewhere different on the camera's internal memory?

It is in the jpeg, more details here:

There are apps that will strip exif for storage in file, some will even rename an image based on the exif so the details are in the filename.

It's tagged to the image file, nothing to do with the camera. Copy the images to your PC. Then right click on the file, slect Properties > Summary > Advanced.
