Elegant automatic watch for £250 ish

This is over size and budget but nice nevertheless. A bit on the sports side, but I would prefer a bracelet.

I think what I really have in mind is a Datejust type thing.

Only stumbled across this thread as it was in my "what's new" section, but I love that watch. My only reservations are that it seems to be described as a ladies' watch and the bezel is much shinier in some of the other photos - I really like the matt finish in the linked pic.

They do a 35mm PRX for a shade under £300.

Seiko is always a good call for this budget.

Citizen probably do some nice Ecodrive stuff too.

It’s a “dive” watch. I am looking for a dress watch. But I will check out their range later thanks.

Another vote for Tissot here, worth paying a bit more to get a Visodate with case back imo.

This is mine which has now been superseded by the powermatic 80.

Slight budget creep but a Seiko Pressage. I have 1 and it’s very comfortable to wear and become my usual day to day watch when in the office. Automatic too.

You can get a Seiko Presage Cocktail Time with a 38.5mm dial for £300 or thereabouts, probably less.
I have a couple. The one on the left is 40.5mm, the one on the right is 38.5mm.

I do like the look of the Cocktail Time. Available on a bracelet too it appears. What is the model number for the smaller one?

OP, you say elegant, but also it's a gift for a youth.

I wouldn't buy any of the dress watches suggested here for a teenager for example.

How old are they and do you know what style they like?
