Bluetooth issues with new phone

Hello

I have a 2012 5 series and it's got the pro media with Bluetooth streaming. On my old android phone it streamed audio from Amazon music no problem and the track would show up on the dash screen and the idrive screen and I could go back and forward using the steering wheel controls.

Just got a new phone (pixel 6 pro) and it's connecting to the car and can play audio but the track next/back buttons only work occasionally.

I know nothing about Bluetooth but imagine the car is basically a set of headphones with a controller. Is this likely to be a compatibility issue between really old car and new Bluetooth ? Is there a way round it without buying extra stuff...

Good choice of phone

Secondly. Delete the phone from the Bluetooth settings on the iDrive, reconnect and make sure that when you sync it to your phone, that the Bluetooth settings are ticked to allow it to share media & contacts

Thanks Dan. Yeah happy with the phone apart from this.

Tried that,and can get it to connect and play media but hitting next or back to play next song etc only works once, and then doesn't do anything. If I turn the radio on and then back into Bluetooth source the forward/back buttons work once and then not again.

Odd one

I've noticed it won't autoconnect either, I need to tell idrive to connect to the phone. The old one would just connect.

Thanks!! Embarrassed to say I didn't think to search specifically for the pixel as I thought it would be a new Vs old thing. Some good tips in there re developer options. Will get digging. Cheers
