I was looking through a 1972 ‘Car & car conversions’ mag, & spotted a small advert for Nota, an Australian manufacturer, but were also built in Wooton Bassett in Wiltshire.
It was a new one to me, so decided to investigate.
They looked quite interesting.

There was one car built in Australia by a Brit who excelled at everything he was involved in. He had moved to Australia in the late 60s - after successfully being a motorcycle scrambler for BSA, and then racing cars here in the UK in the early 60s, one marque especially.

In Australia he not only designed and built his own car (which was exhibited at the Sydney International Motor Show) he raced it there too.

He then moved to the Channel Islands after he'd built up a fortune flying crop dusting aircraft where he built and designed sailing yachts.

He then moved back to the UK mainland in Cornwall in 1980.
Nothing, but nothing daunted this engineer. He purchased at auction a lorry load of aircraft bits - this man was above and beyond the word 'engineer', he was a genius, a word not used lightly. Not only did he rebuild the aircraft from these crate loads of parts were of, he then flew it!
He then restored and rebuilt another aircraft which all formed part of a TV docu.

Tragedy happened when he was killed in a road car accident. But his legacy carried on with his wife flying the most famous of these two planes, and lives on to this day with his son flying that famous plane.

Not really sure what you hope to achieve by not mentioning the chap's name?

Apologies I thought it was blindingly obvious!

Mind you back on it's launch they never mentioned him either on the cover of the country's top car mag.

'Blindingly obvious'. Really? Of course it isn't to 99.9% of us.

I take it that the UK wasn’t a big market for Nota then... but plenty of info ont’ web. scratchchin

The name;
One of the owner’s children had difficulty in saying ‘motor’, he pronounced it as ‘noter’.
With a slight tweak it just became NOTA.

I think the Fang looks pretty cool actually - must have been quite something among contemporary traffic.

In this pic I assumed he was learning on a Porsche 904 at first glance...

Interesting story, thanks for sharing - hadn't heard of the chap previously!

The car he's standing next to looks stunning nuts Like a Porsche 904/6 or Prince R380-rival
