Tonight I experienced the finest piece of live orchestral music I've ever heard, 22 months ago I moved to Akron Ohio to be with my American wife's family, in their home town, my Brother in law Scott is at the moment in his 44th and final year before retirement as a bass player with the Cleveland Orchestra, and at the moment he's the principle player. so we get great tickets for both Severence Hall in Cleveland and their summer home The Blossom Music center in Akron, recently i've been privileged to see Schubert's 9th and Rimsky-Korsakov's Scheherazade recently which were both astonishing live, but tonight's concert beat them it was Respighi's Fountains of Rome and Pines of Rome, it genuinely moved me it was utterly majestic.

Scheherazade I could virtually whistle or hum the whole way through I know it so well, I would have loved to have been there for that. The Fountains and Pines I've played (on record player and then MP3 smile) many times and I'm sure I would have enjoyed that immensely. The Schubert would have been new to me but hearing it live is a great introduction to any such piece.
