Just parked up after a mid afternoon blat and noticed a terrible creaking from under the passenger side front wheelarch. Have rocked the car on this sprin and it creaks terribly and fails to reset or revert to normal as easily as the other side. Sound familiar?

Car is a 3yr old S2 with 22k just registered on clock with one spirited owner - so driven quite hard.

Questions I would like to answer is:
Is it fatal?
Or Is it an early warning sign?
Can it be easily rectified?
Has all my ally tat tipped the scales :-)

Would appreciate hearing from anyone that has experienced similar or suggestions what else to check?
Cheers Stuart

At 22k could it be a worn spring? As it isnt resetting back to normal I thought this might be more likely than a worn shock. The creaking vibrates through to the steering colun at very low speeds?

Any help much appreciated. Stuart
