VW Special G Oil

Anyone come across this before?

Was searching ebay for 5w40 oil, prices of Quantum have increased lately. Saw a few listings of genuine VW Special G 5W-40 non-DPF for a good price.

never seen that oil before.
VW oil usually quotes the 507.00, 505.01, etc spec.

5w40 and non dpf must mean it's aimed at older petrol engines?

Their part numbers for various fluids like coolant, diff oil, transfer cases etc starts with a G.

It'll just be rebranded from whichever manufacturer makes it.

The brand on the rear label says - Shell Deutschland Oil GmbH. £29+VAT full retail at dealers. My parts chaps let it go for £24 with the VAT.

Shame really as my engine liked the old Fuchs made Quantum Platinum.

Interesting. So is Quantum being phased out then?

It's only phased out by VW dealers as far as I know.

Quantum should still be available through TPS and Ebay etc.
