Hi everyone, first time posting in reader's cars, so go easy on me! This is our recently finished type-r engined buggy:
Bit of background...A few years ago, we built up a polaris rzr with the plan of taking it down to Africa.
It performed great and we made it as far as southern Spain:
And then...the whole of Europe went into lockdown and we ended up having to fly back to the UK without the buggy and put the trip on hold.
In the mean time, we decided that the RZR wasn't quite quick enough for the road sections and after looking at turbos and engine transplants, decided to start from scratch...
....And the new buggy is the result of 12 months of tinkering, it's coming in at around 235hp and 650kg, much happier on the road sections and seems pretty handy on the off-road stuff too. The plan is to take it down to the Sahara as soon as we have the funds. I'll add some build pics, specs etc soon

I'll add some driving videos later, for now it's been on a few short runs down near sweetlamb. We're still in the setup phase...but its proving to be an absolute animal on gravel tracks!

Sorry should have been a bit clearer here...
The Polaris Rzr is the blue 67 plate. That buggy made it as far as Spain, we were up in the mountains when Europe started closing it's borders so we only got the news last minute, crossed into Portugal, drove to Lisbon, managed to store the buggy in a commercial unit and caught the last ryanair flight out of the country. I managed to get the Polaris shipped back to us on a freight lorry about 6 months later - at the time I was talking to other ferry customers and there must have been hundreds of cars and motorbikes stuck in Santander/Bilbao.
The white buggy is a completely different machine to replace the Polaris. It's a 'blitzworld' chassis, they make them with a range of engines from a 1.0l saxo engine up to the type-r engine in this one.

Love the buggy, can't help but think just beefing up a polaris would have ended up better anyway, but then, if it's stuck in Spain I guess not!
They just don't have the transmission for thousands of miles of road use imo. Locked diff means you're always dragging a wheel. Great machines but much more suited to greenlanes/proper offroad than big open gravel tracks.
