Strange eBay envelope

This is an odd one.

A small padded envelope was posted through the door a couple of days ago. Addressed to me, so I opened it. Inside was a small reel of electrical cable and an eBay invoice (paid) for the product (£3).

The invoice had my address, name and mobile number too.

I checked my account and I hadn't ordered any electrical cable, so I contacted the seller through the eBay portal. Nothing. (I’ve also never bought from this seller before)

This morning I checked the sellers eBay site and it has their email address listed, so I’ve dropped them an email with images of the enveloped/invoice.
Again, nothing received to-date from this morning.

Has anyone else received something out of the blue?

p.s. The ‘wire’ seller is based in Armagh. I’ve never bought anything on eBay from someone based in Armagh….except a few days ago; inspired by the Lawn thread, I bought some fertiliser and the seller is also from Armagh (3.6miles down the road from the ‘wire’ seller)

I got some screen proctors for an iPhone a few years ago (never owned an iPhone), all addressed to me, but no sign of me actually buying them. I chucked them in a drawer and haven't thought about it until now.

Update, with a lemon twist…

After chatting with eBay, they are doing their thing in the background.

Today the seller responds and sends a screen-grab of his ‘dashboard’ showing my all my details etc but the username as different. I search for the username and someone has registered their eBay account the day I bought the fertiliser; with only one purchase/review feedback.

I spoke with eBay, they can confirm the account is a ‘guest’ account and only valid for one purchase and that the details in the account match mine.

They advise me to contact the police.

I’ve spent half an hour on the telephone with the fraud squad (NFRC) who have taken the information and also thought it was fishy. They are doing their bit their end too.

Here’s the twist....

A few days ago, I ordered some extra hose pipe from Amazon. It arrived the next day.

Today, another hosepipe has turned up, same everything on the label, except my address is ever so slightly different (house name).

So I have two. I spoke with Amazon and they have confirmed only one item has been paid for and ordered. I looked the seller up on Amazon to ask to return it. The hosepipe people are based in Armagh, a few miles from the wire man and fertiliser lady.

Is this all a coincidence? (p.s. I’ve never in all my years received a duplicate from Amazon and I buy almost every day)

Thats got to be more than sheer coincidence - probable vs possible levels are off the scale there!
