Following on from my E320CDI thread, I would like to introduce you to our new family member:

Late 2018 F85 X5M. It’s a rare spec which I have been searching for months for, this one has a very high spec including ventilated seats, 360 camera and rear entertainment package. Extensive service history (which from my other thread you can guess is important to me!) and brand new tyres.

I have never driven anything quite like it, absolutely commands respect and feels very special! As always I will be servicing this one myself and will update the thread with pictures and guides as I go.

So why Red Flying Object? Well apart from the obvious … it’s red and fast… The registration plate is going back to the previous owner and it will be back on it’s original ending RFO..

Must put my poor old E320CDI up for sale soon, so sad I grow attached to my vehicles:

Looks smart, nice to see a x5 in a non dull colour and lovely interior, black wheels aren’t for me though

Bet it’s silly quick for such a big car too!

I agree with this completely. Nice car, but I’d prefer silver wheels personally

I hear you all as black wheels wouldn’t be my first choice normally, however with all the trim being black against the red it works really well.

Very nice there’s one identical near me in the same colour. The red looks stunning and I like the black wheels. As I’m lazy what’s the lump and the spec.

Throttle and inputs, we have had fast(ish) cars in the past Audi S4 etc. However this is very urgent if you more than brush the throttle from standstill, also the way it gains speed and the isolation is simply incredible.

Brilliant cars. Great spec too. Love this. Do change those wheels though.

In the same way Verstappen does when trying to overtake him as chances are he'll take you out given the opportunity.

Love that. It must be hilarious having that motor in an SUV! Enjoy OP.

Thanks all.
The colour was what I was waiting on, unfortunately missed out on one at a main dealer back in May. Have been looking at autotrader, this site and BMW used at least four times a day! The guy I brought this from wasn’t even aware his advert was live when I called him, I was that quick off the mark!

More than 200hp more than my old V8 Touareg which felt mighty quick, this thing must surprise a few.

I'd be tempted to debadge it. I've never been a fan of any M badge where M wasn't the first letter and even then I'd still be tempted to debadge to keep the enviro-mentalists guessing.

Is that all? Does it come with a free fuel card? I’m glad there are people that don’t give a st. Fair play.

I agree! It’s already fully debadged, the only give away is the four tailpipes and big brakes.

No judgement on you OP as it's sunjective but to me that is absolutely hideous

Colour!! :spew:

Wheels!! :spew:

Absurd privacy glass with all those messy rear windows.

I just a pimped up big lump of dullness.

Thank you, no free fuel card unfortunately and only drinks super! Just completed a 200 mile long distance run and it has averaged 24mpg which I don’t think is too bad really. We need the space for family duty’s and wanted to combine something special into our choice of vehicle. While it’s early days living with, it feels so special and the sound is well worth paying for! I have a super economical car for work that will do the bulk of the miles which will offset some of the cost.

I think that’s the great thing about this place, we all have different tastes but for me the important part of being a petrol head is running interesting metal. It doesn’t need to be a over the top SUV like this but just something different from the norm sea of blandness. One of my favourite cars was my Subaru Legacy Spec B estate, it wasn’t that fast but it had personality. However Mrs Lemonslap hated it!
