This really winds me up, just the sheer chavviness, self centered, selfishness of just windings down the window and lobbing out your rubbish...

Anyway, rant and preamble over, just driving down the A3 past Guildford and have on dashcam someone throwing rubbish out of their car in front.

Is it worth reporting to, or do these things just get ignored?

Agreed, thanks. Next question, I can't seem to find where on the Guildford Council website? Plenty of other councils seem to have a dedicated page to submit, but not Guildford?

Any ideas?

Please do report them OP and thankyou for taking the trouble to do so.

Now cue the usual PH responses when anybody mentions sending in dashcam footage:

"Busybody"

"Dashcam Warrior"

"Snitches get stitches"

"Why would you want to"

"Will it make you feel good"

etc etc

Pet hate of mine as well, especially as I had a half full coke can come very close to my bonnet from a van in front lobbing it out.

Ask via 101 how to report it.

Report it. I hate litterers, so bloody selfish.

Anyone who says 'snitches get stitches' or complains about 'grassing up' are criminals or just generally weak people.

It seems round here, if we banned the sale of energy drinks we would have a lot less litter. Is it the sort of people who drink energy drinks who chuck rubbish where ever they want or do shops just sell a lot of energy drinks?

Ban cars too, then they wouldn't be able to throw litter from them, by that logic.

I'd like to see McD's (mainly, looking at the litter around here) put unique codes on their packaging which are then scanned as they go out, and hence linked to the purchaser/car reg. Only people untagged would be those paying cash inside the restaurant, which is very few people these days. The rest can take their fines; as a bonus at least some of the litter with the codes on will be picked up by do-gooders/snitches. In fact, we could fine per item, and then they'd all get picked up.

The cost of printing the codes can be fed back to McD's from the fines... I imagine even at just 1% they'll very shortly be in profit...

Yes, it's a very easy scheme to get around (eg, tear out your code before dumping the litter), but as littering is basically sheer laziness, I suspect that this won't happen... it becomes easier (lazier) to just take you rubbish home. Or actually just use a nearby bin.

I get just as irked when the car in front is driven by a smoker who chucks the butt out as they're driving.

Nothing worse than a butt out of the car window.

Of course, totally unworkable. GDPR for a start, cost being another. And as already said, easily circumvented.

We had a lay-by which had a spate of caravans being dumped in it... not ‘tourers’, but the big static type.
They were literally falling off the back of a lorry.
