I am looking for a thread in which - briefly - the flowery language of some posh classic car dealers was mocked. Likely to be one of the old money/new money bale of string Volvo kind of threads. Anyone? ;-)

I too recall it but cannot find it. Why not buy one of those glossy, monthly classic mags, and adapt the ads? Many will require minimal editing!

That thread sounds interesting. There’s a classic/sports car dealer in Northern Ireland who were infamous for describing their their cars in daft purple prose. Instead of “open the door” it was “ "lightly snap the drivers latch" hehe . They’ve seemed to have toned down a lot recently.

I think it were just a few posts within a longer thread...about stealth wealth, volvos etc.

Someone made a really funny post about how a dealer describes a classic car with words such as "appointed","coachwork", "took delivery" etc.

somebody made a post mocking that speak, with Lord so-and-so who "commissioned" the car and so on.

Go on Car and Classic to view it in the wild. The first ad on there:

This 'example'

"A very rare car of which some 6000 examples were made with most being experted to the USA. This example was UK supplied & is finished in immacualte silver metallic paintwork, the only colour available at first although Gold became an option later. This example is in superb order thoughout having covered 89000 miles from new & resided in a small private collection of unusual cars."
