I’ve just walked down one of Paris’ boulevards watching a group of 3 guys tag pretty much every corner building and street furniture. All 3 using wide permanent black markers, couldn’t make out what any of them said but let’s just say none of it would fall into an recognizable artistic category.

I’d say all 3 were mid to late 30s. I’d assumed this was the kind of thing done by kids on street corners, not 3 grown men on holiday.

Granted this is a sneering / grumpy old man post, but Can anyone enlighten me as to the point of putting st tags onto things that look worse than the stuff I used to scrawl on my school exercise books?

Marking their territory, like animals in the wild. In this part of town, it's "HELCH" , "FAVELA" , "SIKIF" and "OFSKE" doing the rounds and inspiring kids to join in, they love the shop shutters, as they don't get painted out if a wall is tagged. Don't see the point as it blights the area, if it was artistic where there's more of a picture, I could understand rolleyes

I have fond memories of this as a "halfway marker" of a journey I used to make regularly.

Anyone remember "Nosebleed" ?

I’d say that one managed to stand on its own given the infamy, and not like it was on every phone box door.

When I was a kid I thought gouranga was a company who built bridges

Helch went over that I believe, shame as it had been around for years and for me was iconic.

Cimi is heavy round MK, almost every sign.

I know a few graffiti artists who are really talented, they love the buzz of being a bit naughty and infamous.

We offer graffiti removal services, maybe I should chuck the guys a few quid to hit some places we cover!

Helch has turned this into "Helta Skelter" after changing is from "Thank-you NHS" rolleyes it seems he gets no bother from Chiltern Railways or National Highways as he has time to colour each individual brick in his art biggrin Long used as a halfway point coming from the M3 to the A10 in stop start traffic rolleyes
