My girlfriend has been given the following watch by a relative who asked if she can get it repaired. I have no idea what is wrong with it or when it last worked or even when it last had a battery.

My gut feel is it's a 90s Rotary watch that wouldn't have been that expensive when it was new, and is probably not worth bothering to get fixed. Just wondered if anybody had any knowledge of this watch and it's likely value so we can make a decision on whether to bother getting it fixed?

Also any advice as to where to take it, we are based in Greater London, I assume that pretty much any watch shop would be able to at least take a look at it and give us an assessment?

Batteries are not expensive so worth a go, surely?

A new battery would be worth a go, shouldn't be more than £20 even in London unless you go to some upmarket jeweller but most shopping centres will have something like a watch lab or watch doctor.

I doubt it has much real value more of a sentimental thing maybe?

I have a couple of Seikos I jeep going which I will never wear but one was a 21st birthday present and one was my grandads retirement present which he wore to the day he died.

My girlfriend has a Longines last time we took it to watch lab I had to bite my tongue when they said it would be £69.

I would have a go at replacing the battery myself, but it isn't my watch and I don't want to be the person to break it.

I think we are popping into London on Saturday, so I suspect we will find somewhere to take it to for an assesment.
