Replacing an RSQ8?
Discussion
Now I know the RSQ8 is not everyone’s cup of tea, but is there anything like it on the EV market that would be a decent swap?
I’ve got one on order (due soon I hope) but I’m beginning to wonder if I should make a move elsewhere?
I’ve swapped an RS6 for this as I wanted something taller. I like the interior of the Audi range over the less typical car like interiors many manufacturers are now producing, like the performance and driving style, and travel to and from Greece at least once a year, where load capacity comes in very useful.
None of the current Audi EV range appeal directly, although the proposed Etron Avant looks a decent swap if I wanted to stay lower as in the RS6.
I’m a tad out of touch with new models coming to the market at the moment from other suppliers.
All suggestions welcome.

No offense, but Model X? It might be fast, but its getting seriously old in styling and packaging. Sorry, but its a 2015 car with drivetrain refreshes. Its been the ugly duckling of the Tesla model range for a while now. Dont get me wrong, the Model X is a good car, but Tesla have left it to wither on the vine.
And as for alternatives - there really isnt much at the moment. BMW iX?

Available in M50 and M60 trims? But would you steer far from the Audi family? The e-Tron GT is pretty good, but its really NOT an SUV. Also, its been suggested but the Taycan Cross Turismo is fast, well appointed and relatively practical - but again, not an SUV and hence no where near the same interior space. Mercedes have a new EV SUV coming but I doubt you can order and there is a lot of stuff coming down the line - Porsche have admitted that a Cayenne sized EV is in the works (which means its been worked on for the last couple of years) and that means there will be an equivalent Audi too.
Everyone is aiming at the mid to high end market at the moment. I guess the product planners figured that most people would stick with petrol for the upper end SUV and saloon markets, well at least for the moment.

Other than range, surey the etron S is the obvious answer?
Very similar in size & shape, same interior and offering almost 500bhp so will be little in it performance wise. They also have a very good charging curve when required on longer trips and the air suspension allows considerable variation in ride height.
We have an etron 55 and a friend of my wife has the RSQ8 so have compared them side by side.
FYI the new etron is being released later this year.

I think the suggestion was that if the OP can wait; the refreshed Model X is expected in the UK towards the end of 2023 / early 2024. Appreciate the external changes are minimal, but it still looks futuristic with the facelift. We just don't have it in the UK yet, the X hasn't been available for quite some time - you are correct that a used Model X would be slightly aged now, especially in terms of interior, but the new one seems to step things up a bit. I'd have one as a family runabout just for the doors alone!CloudStuff said:

Taycan Turbo Cross Turismo.
Not as high up as the RSQ8 obviously.
+1Not as high up as the RSQ8 obviously.
Had one for a few months.
Simply awesome.
Bit of a reverse tardis and never been quite sure how they managed it with a 5m long ground up EV, but they did.

If the OP likes the interior of the Audi I doubt the Model x will be his cup of tea TBH. Especially that stupid bloody yoke..Edited by SWoll on Tuesday 26th July 15:07

Yes, bigger screen and now the people in the back can access a screen. Thats not a big shift forward. And disturbingly, Tesla are still showing bloody Witcher 3 game on the screens.... ITS NOT AVAILABLE....
Jeez, does this company never stop pushing things you cant actually get?
And before anyone says - yes, I know Elon has tweeted that they are going to have Steam integration "soon", but without solid timelines and release schedules, I am going to call anything he says as NOT REAL.
I assume you'd ferry from Italy - charging infrastructure stops when you get near the Balkans. I'm driving to Southern Serbia next week and Athens later in the year, and there's no way I'd attempt either in an EV despite being a big advocate.
I do have a Q8 currently as a courtesy replacement for an e-tron 55 and can confirm they are certainly similar.

If you can wait until next year then it would have to be the stunning BMW XM.
A plug-in hybrid full-fat V8 M car with 750 hp and looks to die for.
The exterior and interior are completely unique to the car, there will be literally nothing like it on the road.
Get it bought.

If you really need the size of a Q8, your choices are limited.
Taycan is cramped.
Model Y is very decently roomy, but might still be too small if you really need Q8 size. Do not rule it out without trying one though, they're surprisingly big. EV platform vs ICE platform, remember. More room, because less mechanical gubbins.
Model X, as mentioned above, is old tech and definitely to be avoided.
The one that really springs to mind, but isn't released yet and might be a year or two away, is the Hyundia ioniq 9. There will probably be Kia and Genesis versions too thanks to platform share. It's going to be physically massive!
As for that BMW, well... that's up to you, but my goodness it's ugly.
