So all a bit of a rush….

I picked up a 20 plate A45s on last week. Was sent a hand over video, wasn’t really too worried as it was
Mercedes Approved used.

collect car all seems good,

My mechanic, who lives opposite dropped off some keys and notice one of the headlights didn’t seem to sit right. We open the bonnet and the whole thing is loose.

So contact MB who asked me to bring it in, however I’m now away.

My question is how was this missed? I’ve now zoomed in on the handover video and you can see they sit different.

Sure the multi-point check should of picked this up

A wonky headlight per se doesn't make it a lemon.

As far as 'how could this happen', well I have a feeling it's cheaper to do a bare minimum of checking and then handle any unhappy customers than it is to actually check every car properly before delivering them.

The interesting question to me is why the headlight is wonky - presumably it was put on straight at the factory, so how did it get loose? I.e. any evidence of an accident repair? Not saying that's the only explanation, but worth having a quick look around before you send it back perhaps.

I will have the car independently looked at before I go back.

Just can’t really see how this got missed?

Might be worth running something like a vCheck on it. I know you shouldn't have to, but for the small amount it costs it might be worth it.

Of course, it wouldn't flag undeclared damage etc.

Might be as innocent as some mounting screws not tightened after having a headlamp bulb replaced, wouldn't panic just yet.
