Motorhome Hire
Discussion
Good afternoon Guys
Does anyone here hire out a motorhome or a fleet of motorhomes?
I have some spare funds that im looking to use to start up a small business hiring motorhomes starting off with one then to hopefully build a small fleet of different sizes aimed at couples and families.
What are you experiences hiring out motorhomes? and can you point me in the direction of insurances to cover myself and the hirer.
Thanks guys

I sell Motorjomes and have sold a lot to Hire individuals or companies .
A lot of people start off on the intermediary websites like GoBoony Camp too etc, who provide insurance but if renting lots it's cheaper to get your own policy.
Alan Boswell dominate.
It always feels like the market is getting saturated yet everyone I've known does really well with it.
Bear in mind Motorhomes break, regularly and can be hard to get parts for and the industry is awful for support .
A friend of mine started with one older van, priced it well , and now has a fleet of 10 or so as a full time business.
Beware that retail depreciation of the fleet can be bad if prices start to drop which currently they aren't.
Also don't be scared of going the slightly different route in terms of van, not everyone wants a 6 berth bunkbed van!

Something to be said for just chucking a few VW t6 at it, minimal stuff to go wrong tho probably very seasonal.
Older vans as said above would be a bit different but when they break parts will be tricky , possibly chucking a few grand at each to put in modern stuff heating and fridge wise would be novel

I'd look at buying older Hymers/Hobby's/Burstners from private sellers.
The new cheaper motorhomes such as Rollerteam/Rimor are horrendous quality.
Stick private plates on them and give them cute names along with a nice website and you will give yourself a good chance.
We used a company who did exactly that, for the TGLE festival 2016, in Haworth Flintshire. They seem to have relocated & swapped their fleet for more modern stuff, but it used to be Hire A Hymer in Northants, all named after Simpsons characters Ours was a Hymer 680 Starliner called "Binky". Magnificent machine - superb quality. Absolutely loved it would definitely do it again. The new cheaper motorhomes such as Rollerteam/Rimor are horrendous quality.
