Anyone got experience of pedal extenders? As in the lengthen the pedals.

All I can find searching is stuff to thicken the pedals - bring them closer to the driver.

Needed for someone with foot deformity - basically their right foot is missing most of its bones so is only about 5 inches long and they cant apply pressure with the end of their foot.

Thanks

If you start with an automatic BMW then the accelerator is floor mounted so that should be ok.

Could you then get a local garage or metalwork shop to make a plate that they can bolt to the brake pedal that would make it longer and closer to the floor?

Alternatively, you can buy platforms that raise the floor up, bring the floor closer to the pedals.

Something like this?

Once the standard pedals are drilled you could position them to suit.

I wonder how we find a list of cars with floor mounted accelerators?
the platform might work - I'll mock something up and see how that feels for them

Thank you.

Prefer not to drill holes in the existing pedals, but I'll ask how they fit. This set has a much longer accelerator pedal https://www.demon-tweeks.com/uk/omp-sandblasted-al...

Thanks!

BMW pedals are called ‘organ’ pedals. The other types are called ‘pendant’ pedals. I have not seen anything that can search to identify the difference in cars, other than by showing an image of the pedals.

The longer accelerator would be for floor mounted applications, otherwise I think it would bottom out.

Floor mounted accelerators seem to be quite common. However you may have more issues with the brake as it requires a lot more pressure unless they intend to left foot it?

Drilling pedals is probably the safest way of fitting the extensions, but most cars have runner covers that you would remove to fit them anyway. When you’re finished just remove the extensions and refit the covers.

Not quite sure what you have in mind but sounds like it could be a good way to get the accelerator pedal jammed against the floor in an exhilarating fashion.

A few options there, all floor mounted accelerator pedals.
