Hello Porsche Guru's, first post here

Did the 4 Spd gearbox fitted to the 930 turbo change much in its lifetime, is there a way of telling from casing number's which version is which?

Cheers
Joe

Early 3.0 litre version has a shorter bellhousing, but like hen's teeth so no chance of you finding one easlily. From 1978 to 1988 with the 3.3 model there were no obvious changes.

Cheers, what sort of BHP would be the max on one of these in standard form, no cooler, just bog standard.
Did they have any obvious faults or weakenesses.

Gearboxes transmit torque, not power.

The 930 box will take 1000Nm without breaking, only known problems are dodgy syncros and lightweight reverse gear selector mechanism that is prone to breaking under abuse.

I have been advised to search out one of these for a V8 application, engine producing about 400lb ft of Torque.

They seem quite rare, I suspect expensive as well.

Thanks for the info

Out of interest what is the accepted limit for a G50 box? Not that I suspect I'm anywhere near it - just curious.

Are there any specifications or drawings for this box on the web anywhere, I am looking for spigot shaft diameter as well as an exploded view of the diff.

Cheers

From what I can remember: the diff can be re-assembled with the ring on the opposite site (assuming that's why you need a drawing) and therefore run back to front, the spigot diameter is the same as all 911's at 15mm, the clutch centre is 23 spline.

Is the spigot shaft readily availble as a replacement part, mine has been machined down so may need a replacement. If so where,

Thanks
