Another turbo VW, Scirocco TSI Bluemotion Tech GT
Discussion
I liked my last turbo petrol VW so much that I decided to get another one, just more of one.
I honestly wasn't thinking of getting this because of how sporty it was, honestly the heatwave was cooking us all alive and I decided A/C was okay, but climate control would be great. Not to mentioned all other great equipment it has that my last VW didn't, like front & rear parking sensors, satnav and an absolutely banging sound system. But during the 100+ mile drive home when I noticed how well it accelerated and how good the 2ltr TSI sounded at high revs and when just cruising along at motorway speeds I started to realise I just got something that scratched an itch I didn't realise I had for the past couple of years.
At first I decided it simply didn't need much doing, replace a few bulbs with LEDs, swap the front & rear badges for black ones, maybe get the front windows tinted. But since then the list has gotten a bit bigger and a stage one remap (typically taking them from 180hp up to 260hp) will be getting done early next year, then before next summer when the weather gets more "windows down friendly" again I feel like a new exhaust note might be nice.
But until then I'll just be taking care of a few basics like getting a new key (only came with 1 and I don't like tempting fate with just 1 key), getting the alloys refurbed & replacing the front POS tyres with a set of GY Eagle F1 Asymmetrics (old faithful's). Also some of the smaller things like de-badging/rebadging etc.
I've not had a chance to take many good photos of it yet so here's a couple, hopefully I'll have more soon with before and afters shots

Back with some bits!
About a week ago I replaced the DRLs with LEDS, gets rid of that nasty yellow tint and I think it makes the car look at least a couple of years younger:

This was so easy even I managed to do it myself.
Just a very small thing but I got a new key cover which I like a lot. The quick release bit at the bottom makes it easy to remove my other keys so they're not jingling around and dangling down and smacking my knee at every turn. It was cheap and it feels quite quality so happy all round:

The past week the car's been at the bodyshop I use to get all the wheels refurbed, there were some nasty marks on them and I thought the wheels themselves were nice enough to merit getting repaired so got that sorted. They're all shining bright, scratch free now. However things are rarely straight and on the dive to the bodyshop I had a tyre warning light come on, this was the culprit:

So that was a new tyre straight away, not bad considering I'd only done about 250 mile since getting the car
Managed to get one out to them on Wednesday so wasn't too bad, I want to switch completely over to Goodyear Eagle F1s so that's one down
They also replaced the rear chrome VW badge with a matte black one I supplied. It looks a little crooked to me, but I'll get that redone at some point if it really irks me.
The next thing I did (today) was de-badge the rear of the car:

This was surprisingly easy, only needed a once over with polish to get rid of the little shadow outlines that are usually left behind. IMO this looks much cleaner with the badges gone.
The next thing I did was move to the front of the car and did the same to the front badge, but replaced it with a matte black one:

This one took a bit more elbow grease but I think it was worth it.
Anyway, here's the finished article:

That last image is really making me rethink about whether I wanna get it lowered or not. Just not sure all the hassle is gonna be worth closing that gap up somewhat.
I did a bit of a clean on the inside as well:

I do really like the interior but the thing that always stands out for me is a bit peculiar.

I like these gauges, they're quite cool, but one little detail always steals my attention at least a few times when I drive it:

This little digital clock!
I don't why, I just really like it. I'm being dead serious, I just think it has such a cool retro feel to it. It might just be me being weird but I'm glad it's there
That's it so far. It's still driving great, if I drive really calmly I can just about squeeze 40mpg out of it. Tomorrow I'm getting a new key coded as I only have the one. £70 labour for literally 15 minutes of work seems a bit extortionate but hey ho, gotta be done. Next on the list is getting the other tyres replaced with Eagle F1s which I'll hopefully get sorted next month and then I won't be doing much to it for a while for sore wallet reasons.
But come January I'll be getting a 1st stage remap sorted & then getting a quote to get a light tint on the front windows. Then around April I may be looking at getting a Cobra/Milltek exhaust fitted depending on how everything goes.
So yeah, quite chuffed with how it's turning out and looking forward to going on a couple of longer drives soon. I'll try and snap some nice pictures of it during those trips

Car looks tidy, nice colour combo on the interior too.
The arch gap is quite meaty, be surprised what a 20mm drop will do looks wise and probably firm it up a bit.
With your dash cam, if you hard wire it in and mount it behind the rear view mirror, I like to slip the cable inside the plastic mirror stem from the rear view mirror and then you near enough can't see any of the wiring at all

Is just swapping lowering springs pretty straight forward? No sensors or calibrations needed?Danm1les said:

Yeah I really wanna tidy it up, I work at a dealership but I feel I should probably get an electrics specialist to sort out hard wiring.
I'm not capable of doing any of this myself so would need to find someone around who is
