Hi all. New here and looking to buy a 2010-2011 997.2 Turbo S. advice please.
I have been watching these cars for months and would I be right in thinking the current asking prices are stalling. The ones available appear to have been for sale for some time ?
With the current climate will they drop at all?
Are they overpriced like most used cars at the moment. I’m genuinely ready to buy but can’t help thinking if I buy now they could drop in value if we head into a recession 🤷‍♂️

Guess I’m trying to find some comfort.
Thanks in advance for any replies. 👍

difficult question to answer - personally am bearish on the car market given rates, CPI and recession expectations. Will that impact a 997.2 Turbo S materially - I do not know. I think less so than many other cars. I don't know what build numbers of the Turbo S are, but probably not a lot compared to the newer models.
I nearly bought one for c 85k euros in 2014, bought a GT2 instead and promptly crashed it 4 months and 10k km later ... should have known my skill and gone for the Turbo. I really like them, but I am a huge fan of the 996/997 platform in general.
In summary, I think it is - from a value perspective - probably going to do better than 991 cars.

Out of curiosity what is the price of the car you are looking at?

that does not seem bad value to me. I think there are a couple of people on here who have/had a 997 Turbo S and from memory most quite liked the car.

Edit: I am not in the UK though so comparing to continental europe prices in my head

Had one for seven years, bought from new, didn’t put a foot wrong in all that time and kept its value well. Iirc there was only a few hundred brought in to the country, so compared to other similar models they’re relatively rare.

Came with ceramics and centre-locks as standard, there was no other mechanical option that you could put on them as they were fully loaded. Only for the interior were options available.

My only criticism was that the suspension was too soft in comfort and too hard in Sport, but you can get a controller to change that. It was one of the first cars with launch control, which was both brutal and reliable. (There’s a video of someone doing 50 launches in a row with no mechanical problems)! Hth.

They're fantastic and worth the premium over the Turbo. Centre lock wheels are a must. Dont think they have those fitted as standard as I have seen some without. Aero kit is a nice thing to have too.

I was originally looking at one, and decided for a weekend toy it was too 'soft'. Brilliant as an everyday car though. Ended up with a 997.2 GT3.

i've been watching values of 997.2 Turbo S for a while too.

there are some crackers out there at the mo hovering between 70-80k with low mileage. There are cheaper but these appear to be very mile sensitive when it comes to asking price.

I'd love one. But i'd be torn between trying to find a 997.1 Turbo for the manual box and Mezger combo too. These too seem very mileage sensitive and are cropping up between 50-60k.

will values soften? i honestly dont think they will. Those ive been watching have sat there for quite some time but it doesnt strike me the sellers are that bothered anyway.

Thanks for the advice and your thoughts guys, I have bitten the bullet and paid a deposit. 997.2 Turbo S. I wanted the gen 2 and pdk. The Metzger and manual box doesn’t do much for me as I’ve had enough of manual cars. I intend to keep the car so if a manual is worth more in years to come then so be it. 👍

Great choice! Mezger and PDK is better IMO in a turbo than a manual.

You can't get a mezger with PDK. It was a tiptronic box. The DFI unit was introduced alongside PDK on the .2
