PayPal to sell Goods (How safe is it for seller and buyer?)

I am all too aware of how ebay will ALWAYS side with a buyer and force refunds under most circumstances and because of this I would never sell using ebay

If I were to sell something online on a forum (not this one), accept payment using PayPal non-gift (so fees to pay), post tracked and insured how safe is that for me as a seller?

Is PayPal open to the same abuse under those circumstances? Like if a buyer were to claim the item didn't arrive or I posted something totally different can they file a claim with PayPal?

The safest method would be bank transfer and post tracked n' insured

People do try and use PayPal because they build up credit balances, but if it were me, I would resist, because it gives them another avenue to make a claim/return because they're too dumb/fickle to transact and have changed their mind.

I always use Paypal if selling something remotely. Too many stories of bank transfers and being scammed.

Nothing is going to be 100%, but with Paypal you do get a little more protection.

I'm fairly sure that sending via Paypal F&F means 0% protection for the buyer - seems to be a recurring theme in "how I was scammed" stories.

How far apart are you and the buyer? When doing this sort of thing I try and arrange a day out somewhere convenient, usually works out

Simple rule of thumb.

Never accept PayPal.

Anyone who thinks it's safe has never been on the receiving end of the multitude of scams that exploit the system, I got done by a credit card chargeback and a closed account, never again.

PayPal is about the least secure method of payment possible for a seller. Bank transfers, cash in your hand, even the really really iffy money transfer systems are better as a seller, it's buyers that don't want to use them (understandably), not sellers.

PayPal like to sit on the money for a couple of days to make interest in a suspense account and there's always some sort of drama due to their fees. I used to sell kilts via ebay and it was a nightmare if there's returns to deal with as they never pay out properly.

I always use Royal Mail recorded and provide a tracking number.

So long as its posted using the correct type of service paypal will insure the transaction.

You must post it to the address provided on the paypal transaction.

Have a read of the seller protection rules but its fairly straight forward.

Some items are not covered but again just read the rules.
