Considering an i8 but circumstances dictate it might be left parked for a month or two at a time. I don't have access to a plug in point and so all charge to the electric battery would be via the engine running.

With my petrol cars I have disconnected the battery to avoid them going flat when I am away. This has worked fine.

With an i8, can I follow the same approach without damaging the bigger battery? Would there be any issue with it being left for a month here and there?

There should be a section in the manual about it, IIRC you should leave the HV battery about 50% charged. It should be ok for a fair while as they have very low self discharge.

I used to leave mine for several months not on charge and never had any issues. They drain very slowly

Thanks Nigel.

Would there be any issue with the normal car battery being isolated? As in have a cut off switch for the smaller battery so that it doesn’t discharge?
