I believe Joni Mitchell had an aneurysm a few years ago so this kind of thing was unthinkable back then - she's been hosting jam sessions at her house and Brandi Carlile (?) got her up on stage at the Newport festival - she might not be as physically adroit as she used to be but she's still got all her soul:
