Is Car production going to be affected again?

In Germany today its been announced today that because of the closure of the Nord Stream 1 gas pipeline Industry has got to reduce its gas consumption by 35%. Im presuming this will affect car production?
How many more delays can people seriously cope with?

The thing is you dont have much in the way of options , delays are common across all makes

I think they can cope OK. It’s not like they have to walk anywhere in the meantime:-)

I’m sure in the grand scheme of things people waiting for a brand new Porsche, whilst inconvenient for them, isn’t much to get excited about.

Im not too excited , just concerned that they can't keep pushing back the production.
All the time the possibility of the price increasing the longer you wait.
There will come a time when its just not worth the wait, either financially or physically.

SUV and Electric more profit , 911 halo model
Money being made on used anyway, SUV anyway - They will take priority
Not forgetting many want to join the bandwagon of Porsche — Power , Sexy , desirable , fashionable , beautiful * ( well 911) —-advertising brand placement will already bring in money even if cars are taking time
New cars people will wait and a lot will pay over list for used
Law states low co2 emissions etc etc .]
Porsche are making more money and they know the 911 crowd will wait and pay
Just life , its a business and profit money is the currency ; some one somewhere will say “ Suck it up buttercups “ and We will all wait as we all know where asking questions ( some say complaining) gets us
In summary yes will be delayed until 2025 -2026 model years ( yep 4 years it is ),until it gets back to prepandemic style

Ummm I will go so far with that , I was originally quoted 5 months which turned out to be 9 for a BGTS4.0 , yes its a first world problem and I wasnt cold or short of food or the like but did have a mental note that if it got past 12 months I would have look at other options , have no idea what these would been though

As and when they have to start cutting energy supply, I guess the German govt will need to decide what to prioritise, knowing that companies may lose custom.

Porsche are in a fortunate position right now that things like the Taycan are in demand (I'm on the list). But that won't last forever (I was due a car this year in theory, now Q2 2023 will see me thinking I'm lucky).

Other cars will catch up, other things will crop up to spend the cash on or I'll just get bored and not bother.

I imagine Porsche will be lobbying their govt. How much good it does, who knows.

Reading more information it seems that most car production can manage in the shortterm by using renewable energy to fill the shortfall.
The issue is going to be in the steel and aluminium planta in Germany, these are obviously energy hungry.

You highlight a very good point. It’s one thing waiting 18-24 months for an iconic 911, waiting the same amount of time for Taycan when the EV segment technology is rapidly evolving is a different story altogether.

If the Lotus Eletra were a bit more S than U I'd probably have hedged my deposit.
