Pre-purchase inspection when buying from dealer/specialist?

Hey everyone, just looking for some advice that has bought a Porsche from a OPC or Specialist in the last few years.

What is the standard practice around pre-purchase inspections, for instance:

- Will dealers refund the deposit if the PPI throws up anything you & seller cannot agree on i.e. items you want money off for, or fixed before sale?

- Is it best to get their px trade-in price, negotiate etc subject to the inspection or wait for the outcome of PPI before negotiating?

Any other tips welcome. Aware it's probably a sellers market at the moment.

Lots of different opinions likely to flow in largely around attitude to risk I would say.

From an OPC I wouldn’t bother. Two year warranty is rock solid and any imperfections you spot should be addressed or at least accepted by the buyer.

For a Specialist it would depend on which one and what the warranty provision was. Many of the Specialists are top notch albeit not all!

Pretty much what was just said. I’ve bought from both OPC and various specialists. A newish car from an OPC with the two year warranty should be very safe. Some specialists have well deserved reputations to protect and hence you might feel assured by that eg I bought from JZM without an inspection.

If it was a less well known dealer, non-specialist or older car I’d be getting it inspected. Not necessarily because they are dodgy (some are so so your research), but sometimes just less familiar with what goes wrong on some of these cars.
