I've bought my first 18v impact wrench (1/2" hog ring) and impact sockets. I'm now looking at a Teng impact socket accessories set which comes in DIN (pin and ring) or ANSI (ball bearing) standards.

Having looked around the various impact extensions and ball joint sockets on offer by other manufacturers, they all seem to differ between whether they manufacturer to ANSI or DIN standards.

Could I have some advise on which set would be the correct one for a home mechanic? The idea of having to insert a pin and ring every time I change an extension seems a bit awkward, is this normal in the impact world?

We use pin and ring when working at height, because you don't want to drop a socket.

Spring ring works with both socket types anyway, but why not go for the spring ball type, then you can use them with normal ratchets and what have you.
